New Mexico United has proudly announced the signing of 18-year-old defender Jackson DuBois to his inaugural professional contract.
DuBois marks a significant milestone as only the second player in New Mexico United’s history to progress from the club’s USL Academy squad, through a USL Academy signing in the USL Championship, to securing a full professional deal.
“Jackson has demonstrated exceptional commitment, dedication, and growth both on and off the field,” commented New Mexico United Head Coach Eric Quill. “His journey from the Academy to our First Team is a testament to his hard work and talent, and we are privileged to have him representing our club.”
Born and raised in Albuquerque, DuBois honed his skills at La Cueva High School and Rio Rapids in club soccer before joining New Mexico United Academy in 2022. His integration into the First Team as a USL Academy signing earlier this year allowed him to showcase his abilities across both levels.
DuBois made his debut in the USL Championship on May 5, entering as a late substitute in New Mexico United’s 2-1 victory against Las Vegas Lights FC. Since then, he has featured in two additional league matches this season.
Moreover, DuBois has been instrumental in New Mexico United’s campaign in the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup, including earning his maiden start in the club’s 3-1 triumph over Lubbock Matadors in the Third Round on April 16. This performance was pivotal as the team advanced to the Quarterfinals, where they will face Major League Soccer’s Los Angeles FC next month.
Jackson DuBois’s rapid ascent underscores New Mexico United’s commitment to nurturing local talent and integrating them into professional soccer, promising an exciting future for both the player and the club.
