The continuous goal is to increase and enhance the pool of players for the U.S. Women’s Youth National Team. As part of the Under-14 Talent ID initiative, soccer will have its second national identification camp in 2024. Twenty of the eighty players are Americans. East, Central, South, and West soccer scouting zones will come together at Chula Vista Elite Athlete Training Center in Chula Vista, California, from June 2–7.
The event will be supervised by U.S. Soccer Talent ID Director – WYNT Nicole Lukic and U.S. The four regional teams will be coached by soccer’s Talent ID Managers, Diane Drake (East), Lindsay Basalyga (Central), Katie Cole (South), and Marieke Laurens (West). Out of the 80 players, 76 were born in 2010 and 4 in 2011.
The goal of the U-14 TID Program is to find and bring in a wider pool of exceptional young athletes in the U-14 age range into the scouting pool for the older U-15 to U-20 WYNTs.
High-potential athletes are assessed and motivated by the mini-camp structure, which expedites their growth in a stimulating and demanding setting. This scouting and identification system not only broadens the pool of potential YNT players in its early stages, but it also gives elite players in the U-14 age group the opportunity to quickly assimilate the fundamentals of the YNT ideology and further their own growth.
