ATLANTA, GEORGIA—After a successful 2021 college soccer campaign the Georgia State University Panthers men’s soccer team is ending the year as the 29th ranked college soccer team in the US.
The NCAA soccer campaign of the Panthers is historic this year as the team finally won its first NCAA tournament match after a 1-0 win over the home team Charlotte at Transamerica Field last November 18.
Senior captain George Proctor scored the lone and winning goal for the Panthers in their morale-boosting win after five tries.
Proctor scored the memorable goal in the first half.
The win is sweet and memorable for the Panthers since it is their first win on their fifth NCAA Tournament.
Aside from Proctor, junior goalkeeper Gunther Rankenburg also played superbly for the team in their victory as he recorded his sixth shutout of the season.
