ATLANTA, GEORGIA—After suffering defeat at the hands of Argentina in the 2021 Copa America, Brazil’s under-23 football team is now focused on winning the gold medal in the 2020 Tokyo Olympics.
Brazil got a slot to the finals of the Olympics soccer after they beat Mexico on penalties 4-1 in their men’s Olympic football semifinal in Saitama on Tuesday following a 0-0 draw after extra-time.
Brazil who is the defending champion in Olympic football is very happy to defend its crown once again this year.
“We had chances to win the game in regular time, but it wasn’t possible,” Brazil captain Dani Alves said.
“I think fate wanted it to be that way,” Alves added.
Brazil will face the winners of Tuesday’s other semifinal between Spain and Japan in the gold medal match.
