ATLANTA, GEORGIA—Atlanta United FC’s attacking midfielder, and winger Ezequiel Barco is one busy dude as far as international soccer matches are concerned.
After representing Argentina in its U-23 national team for World Cup qualifying matches, Barco has also been tapped to play for his country in the 2021 Tokyo Olympics which is set to start on July 23.
Barco and some of his U-23 teammates will represent their country in the Olympics in Japan.
According to the website of the United FC, Barco will depart Atlanta early next week.
Sources said the group stage of the tournament begins July 22 and Argentina is in Group C along with Australia, Egypt, and Spain.
Barco is a regular member of the Argentine national team as he made 14 appearances with Argentina’s U-20 National Team and scored twice and added two assists in four games at the 2019 FIFA U-20 World Cup.
Barco also earned his first cap with Argentina’s U-23s in a 1-0 win against Brazil’s U-23s on November 17, 2019.
The young Argentine midfielder is playing well for United this year’s MLS season.
Under the guidance of Gabriel Heinze, Barco has contributed goals for United this year.
Barco is also one of the key players of United as it seeks to win the MLS championship crown this year.
