ATLANTA, GEORGIA—Promising defender Aiden McFadden is back on the roster of Atlanta United as a temporary replacement for Tyler Wolff, who has been called up to the U.S. Under-20 Men’s Youth National Team for the 2022 Concacaf U-20 Championships from June 18 to July 3.

McFadden, one of the top players of United 2, is expected to fill in the void left by Wolff. According to reports, from June 18 to July 3, the league and the MLS Players Association have agreed to allow an exception to the limitations on short-term loan agreements for clubs with players unavailable due to U-20 national team call-ups.

McFadden, 23, spent his college career at Notre Dame before being selected 59th overall in the 2021 MLS SuperDraft.
Atlanta United 2 signed McFadden on April 21, 2021. McFadden tallied eight goals and three assists in 29 USL appearances in 2021.

The Pennsylvania native has since become a staple of the Atlanta United 2 setup. In his first season with the USL Championship side, McFadden set the ATL UTD 2 record for most goals in a season with eight. His versatile skill set has seen him play for head coach Jack Collison as a defender, midfielder, and forward. The former Fighting Irish made his first-team debut in a cameo against Colorado Rapids on March 5, 2022.
