ATLANTA, GEORGIA—The dream of visiting Atlanta United FC to eked out a win on the road remains elusive.
On August 21, the visiting Atlanta United FC suffered a 2-2 draw against the home team Columbus Crew. The outcome of their game might be a draw, but the game is still special since Argentine midfielder Santiago Sosa scored his first goal in Major League Soccer (MLS).
Soca scored a beautiful goal in the first half. The team’s other goal was scored by Juanjo Purata, who did it with a header.
The draw has been huge for Atlanta United since last August 17, the visiting New York Red Bulls beat them at home 2-1 at the Mercedes-Benz Stadium on August 17.
The win also spoiled a historic night for Atlanta United veteran Venezuelan striker Josef Martinez who scored his 100th MLS goal in his 150th match in all competitions for Atlanta United. This MLS season, the Red Bulls have already beaten Atlanta United twice at home and on the road. The team is focused on their remaining games since they want to enter the MLS playoffs.
On August 28, the team hopes to win at home at the Mercedes-Benz Stadium when they host last-place D.C. United and their new head coach Wayne Rooney.
