ATLANTA, GEORGIA—Playing on the road remains a problem for Atlanta United 2. On August 20, the visiting Atlanta United 2 suffered a 1-3 beating from the home team Loudoun United at Segra Field in Leesburg, Virginia. Atlanta United star striker Jason Conway scored the lone goal for the team in their defeat.
Last August 13, Atlanta United 2 suffered its second straight defeat against the visiting Miami FC 0-2 at the Fifth Third Bank Stadium on August 13. The visiting Miami started strong in the game by scoring in the eighth minute through Mark Segbers.
French midfielder Florian Valot controlled a Romeo Parkes pass and laid off a ball into the path of Segbers, who ran into the box and tucked a finish into the right-side netting of Justin Garces’ goal.
The home team tried to score a goal and matched the visitor’s energy to no avail. Atlanta United fell to New York Red Bulls II at the MSU Soccer Park 1-2 last August 9. The visiting United 2 had many chances to win the game, but the home team played solid defense and offense to win the game. United 2’s Raimar opened the scoring for both teams in the 68th minute. Red Bulls II drew the match level with a goal from Steven Sserwadda in the 82nd minute.
O’Vonte Mullings scored the winning goal for the hosts in the 90th minute. Atlanta United 2 (4-20-4, 16 points) hopes to regain back its winning ways when they return to Fifth Third Bank Stadium in Kennesaw, Georgia, to face Pittsburgh Riverhounds on Saturday, Aug. 27 (7:30 p.m., ESPN+).
