ATLANTA, GEORGIA—The visiting Atlanta Rovers FC suffered another defeat on the road on April 23.
Rovers FC fell to the home team Atlanta Elephants FC 2-3 at the Silverback’s Stadium. The visitor had a massive chance of beating the Elephants, but they fell short in the end.
Last April 19, Rovers FC also suffered a 1-2 defeat at the hands of the home team Atlanta United Academy at Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta Training Ground, Marietta. Darwin Lon provided the lone goal for Rovers FC in their second defeat in the UPSL Georgia Premier Division 2022 Spring Regular Season. Last April 9, the team suffered a 0-2 defeat at the hands of the visiting Limeño Georgia 0-2 at the Hillgrove High School Stadium. The home team, Rovers, played with effort and determination, but their performance was not enough to stop Georgia from scoring two winning goals against them.
Earlier, the dream of Rovers FC to nail down its first win on the road has ended in a nightmare. Rovers FC fell to the home team Potros FC 1-2 at Marietta High School Stadium on April 3. The visiting Rovers FC started strong in the game by scoring the first goal, but the home team bounced back and scored the following goals for the win. Last March 26, Rovers FC salvaged a draw against the visiting SJ All-Stars FC at Hillgrove High School around 7 in the evening. Down 0-1 in the first half, the home team rallied to eke out a draw against the All-Stars in the second half.
UPSL is an American professional development soccer league founded in Santa Ana in Southern California. The teams are considered regionalized conferences throughout the United States, Canada, and Mexico. The league was founded in 2011 by Santa Ana Winds FC President Leonel López as a regional league for teams in Greater Los Angeles but expanded to include teams from 32 states as of the 2019 UPSL season.
Each year, two seasons are played, with regional play culminating in a playoff system that crowns a single national champion each season. The league features internal promotion and relegation with up to three levels in some regions; only clubs in the top tier Division I are eligible to compete for the national championship. The league is a United States Adult Soccer Association National League within the United States soccer league system.
