ATLANTA, GEORGIA—The dream of Atlanta Rovers FC to win the championship crown in the ongoing 2022 United Premier Soccer League Georgia Summer Regional Cup is now closer to reality. Rovers FC is set to face SEAS Jamaica All Stars in the semifinals of the football tournament on July 30 at the South Gwinett Park at 8 in the evening.
The team got the slot in the semifinals as a wild card entry after winning its last two games in a lopsided fashion. Rovers FC demolish the home team Cochos Football Club, 8-0 at the Hubert Soccer Complex last July 23. The visiting Rovers FC was a focused team as they did not allow the home team to score in there, and at the same time, they scored a ton of points in their game.
Last July 16, the team beat the visiting Atlanta City U17 at the South Gwinnett Park 10-1. With their winning streak, Rovers FC is now 2-1 in the tournament. UPSL is an American professional development soccer league founded in Santa Ana in Southern California.
The teams are considered regionalized conferences throughout the United States, Canada, and Mexico. The league was founded in 2011 by Santa Ana Winds FC President Leonel López as a regional league for teams in Greater Los Angeles but expanded to include teams from 32 states as of the 2019 UPSL season.
Each year, two seasons are played, with regional play culminating in a playoff system that crowns a single national champion each season. The league features internal promotion and relegation with up to three levels in some regions; only clubs in the top tier Division I are eligible to compete for the national championship. The league is a United States Adult Soccer Association National League within the United States soccer league system.
