Nyk Sessock: A Defensive Anchor with Proven Experience
Sessock, 24, developed through the Philadelphia Union Academy before making an impact at the collegiate level. He began his NCAA career at the University of Pittsburgh, where he started 32 of 37 matches. He later transferred to Indiana University, becoming a defensive staple for the Hoosiers. Over three seasons, Sessock started 52 of 58 games, helping Indiana secure a Big Ten Regular Season and Tournament Championship in 2020, along with two NCAA National Championship appearances (2020, 2022).
After college, Sessock continued his career with Inter Miami II, where he spent two seasons contributing two goals and eleven assists in 27 matches. His ability to shut down attackers while pushing forward with precision passing makes him a valuable asset for Atlanta United 2’s backline.
Ronan Wynne: A Rising Star from the SuperDraft
Joining Sessock in defense is Ronan Wynne, a 2025 MLS SuperDraft pick selected 53rd overall by Atlanta United. The 23-year-old center back made a name for himself at the University of Denver, where he was a defensive powerhouse. Wynne was a two-time Summit League Defensive Player of the Year and played a key role in the Pioneers’ success, winning three Summit League Regular Season Championships (2020, 2021, 2022) and a Tournament Championship in 2021. His leadership and defensive prowess helped Denver reach the NCAA College Cup in 2024 for the first time in eight years.
Internationally, Wynne is eligible to represent New Zealand and was a reserve for the U-23 national team during the 2024 Paris Olympics. His physicality, tactical awareness, and aerial dominance add another layer of strength to ATL UTD 2’s defense.
