ATLANTA, GEORGIA—The home team Atlanta United 2 FC barely escaped defeat after they eked-out a 2-2 draw against the visiting Memphis 901 FC on Saturday night at Fifth Third Bank Stadium.
United 2 FC played aggressively at the start of the game but it was the visiting 901 FC who drew first blood on the 21st minute from striker Kyle Murphy.
On the 27th minute, 901 minutes found an opening again as Murphy scored his second goal in the match.
The first half ended with 901 FC taking a commanding 2-0 lead.
Sensing danger, the United 2 FC played aggressively in the second half and scored their first goal on the 54th minute courtesy of Daniel Sebhatu.
Down 2-1, United 2 FC found relief from a possible defeat after Darwin Matheus scored a goal in stoppage time.
United 2 FC (3-4-4, 13 points) hopes to get back to its winning ways when they host the Indy Eleven on July 7 at Fifth Third Bank Stadium (ESPN+, 7:30 p.m. ET).
