ATLANTA, GEORGIA—The dream of Atlanta United 2 FC for a back-to-back win will have to take a backseat once again.
On Wednesday night, the home team United 2 FC only managed a 2-2 draw against the visiting OKC Energy FC at the Fifth Third Bank Stadium.
Coming off a dominant 5-2 win against Indy Eleven 6-2 at the Fifth Third Bank Stadium on August 8, United FC 2 started strong in the game but it was the visitor who scored the first goal in the match from Villyan Bijev in the 39’-minute.
The home team was able to tie the score at 1-1 from a goal of Robbie Mertz in the 67’-minute.
While the two teams battle toe to toe, the Energy took the driver seat once again after Villyan Bijev scored another goal for his team in the 76’-minute.
As the Energy is headed to victory, United 2 FC rallied and scored a last-minute goal from David Mejia to tie the game 2-2.
United 2 FC (5-7-7, 22 points) hopes to get back to its winning ways when they visit the dangerous Sporting KC II on August 14 at Children’s Mercy Victory Field (ESPN+, 5:00 p.m. ET).
