ATLANTA, GEORGIA—After ending the month of May with a loss, the Atlanta United 2 FC started the month of June strong with a 1-0 home win against the Louisville City FC Sunday night at Fifth Third Bank Stadium.
United 2 striker Aiden McFadden bounced back from a lackluster performance in the team’s 1-0 defeat against Birmingham Legion FC last May 30 still at Fifth Third Bank Stadium.
McFadden scored the lone goal for United 2 in their morale-boosting win and a solid start for new head coach Jack Collison.
Playing in front of their home fans, Collison and his crew started strong and scored the game-winning goal on the 26t minute.
The visiting Louisville tried to catch up and played with lots of energy in the second half but United 2 goalkeeper Alec Kann was at his element and foiled all their attempts.
Kann had seven saves on eight shots on goal en route to his first shutout of the season.
United 2 (3-2-2, 11 points) hope to continue their winning ways when they host the dangerous Sporting KC II, June 9 at Fifth Third Bank Stadium (ESPN+, 7:30 p.m. ET).
