ATLANTA, GEORGIA—Looks like the Atlanta United 2 FC needs to re-evaluate its game plans after the team suffered its second straight defeat at the hands of the visiting OKC Energy FC on Sunday night at the Fifth Third Bank Stadium.
The home team United 2 suffered a 2-1 defeat against the Energy in front of its home fans.
Playing in front of its fans, United 2 started strong and scored the first goal in the match in the 49′ minute courtesy of Matias Benitez.
After their 1-0 defeat at the hands of the home team Memphis 901 FC at the AutoZone Park in Memphis, Tennessee last June 16, United 2 played with more energy and purpose on Sunday at home.
However, the Energy equalizes the count at 1-1 after Tucker Stephenson scored a goal on the 71′ minute.
Sensing that the game could slip in their hands, United 2 played aggressively in the dying minutes but the Energy was able to score another goal in the 78′ minute courtesy of Conor Donovan to put the game in the bag for the visitors.
Atlanta United 2 (3-4-3, 12 points) hopes to bounce back from their successive defeats when they visit the Birmingham Legion FC, June 30 at BBVA Compass Field (ESPN+, 8:00 p.m. ET).
