ATLANTA, GEORGIA—The dream of Atlanta United 2 FC to enter the playoffs in the United Soccer League (USL) Championship is now over.
This scenario developed after United 2 FC suffered a 0-1 defeat at the hands of Sporting Kansas City II Wednesday night at Children’s Mercy Park.
Desperate for a win to keep their playoff chances alive, United 2 FC played tough defense and stop the home team from scoring a goal in the first half.
However, in the second half, the home team played with more fire and scored a goal in the 69th minute courtesy of Osvaldo Cisneros to get the win.
United 2 FC (7-13-11, 30 points) hopes to end their season on a good note when they visit Memphis 901 FC at AutoZone Park on October 16 (ESPN+, 7:00 p.m. ET).
