Atlanta United 2 lost to Inter Miami CF II on Sunday night at Chase Stadium, 4-1. This season, French forward Karim Tmimi has scored five goals for ATL UTD 2, and 16-year-old Jonathan Ransom has made his professional debut by making an appearance in the starting lineup. In the fourth minute, Ryan Carmichael gathered a cross from the left wing, brought it gently down, and left it for Santiago Morales to tap in a shot from the penalty area, giving Miami a fast lead.
In the 29th minute, Dairon Reyes curled up for a shot outside the box that was going to the right side of the goal, but Ransom dove to make the stop, almost giving Inter Miami a two goal lead.
During a three-on-two counterattack in the 52nd minute, Morales moved the ball toward Atlanta’s goal before laying off a pass for Alejandro Flores De La Paz to the left of the penalty spot, but Matt Edwards recovered quickly to block his attempt. A ball between Atlanta’s centerbacks found Carmichael just inside the box in the 64th, giving him a one-on-one opportunity with Ransom, but the Academy product missed the left-footed attempt.
In the 67th minute, a penalty was given to Miami. Alejo Ristano hauled down Carmichael’s long-range ball to the far post in the area after he was tripped up by Jacob Williams trying to put pressure on the defender.
In the 69th minute, Reyes took the penalty kick and attempted to place it in the bottom right corner. In the seventy-fiveth minute, Tmimi managed to break the seal for Atlanta. Tmimi received a pass from Matías Gallardo in the left side of the box, cut past his defender, and snuck a shot past the Miami goalkeeper.
In the last minutes of the game, Miami added two more goals: an own goal in the 83rd minute and a goal by Idoh Zeltzer-Zubida in the first minute of stoppage time.
