Atlanta United 2 is adding another young attacking talent to its playoff push.
The 2s announced the signing of 18-year-old Brazilian forward Caio Assis from América FC U-20 to a contract through the 2027-28 MLS NEXT Pro season, with an option for the 2028-29 campaign.
Assis arrives in Atlanta after building an impressive scoring record through Brazil’s youth system, giving ATL UTD 2 another young forward to develop alongside Arif Kovac, Enzo Dovlo and Patrick Weah.
Caio Assis Brings Proven Scoring Record to Atlanta
The Fortaleza, Ceará native began making a name for himself with local academies before joining América FC U-17 in May 2025.
It didn’t take long for Assis to make an impression.
The young center forward scored seven goals in his first eight appearances, earning a professional contract with América FC and a promotion to the club’s U-20 team in August 2025.
With the U-20 side, Assis scored three goals in nine appearances across all competitions and helped América FC capture the Campeonato Potiguar U-20 title in October.
His most impressive stretch came at the beginning of 2026.
Assis scored five goals in six appearances for América FC U-20 at the São Paulo Junior Football Cup in January, further establishing himself as one of the club’s promising young attacking players.
By the time he departed América FC, Assis had scored 15 goals in 23 youth appearances.

Another Young Piece for Atlanta United 2
Assis joins an Atlanta United 2 attack that already features several developing young forwards.
The new signing joins Arif Kovac, Liam Butts, Enzo Dovlo and Patrick Weah on the current roster, giving head coach Jose Silva another option in the final third.
Kovac has been one of the biggest attacking stories for ATL UTD 2 this season, recently tying the club’s single-season scoring record with his 16th goal.
The arrival of Assis gives Atlanta another player with a strong history of finding the back of the net at the youth level.
His next challenge will be translating that production to MLS NEXT Pro.
