ATLANTA, GEORGIA—Two young members of Atlanta United 2 got a much-needed boost in their young professional career after receiving youth national team call-ups from the United States Men’s Soccer Team (USMNT) and Peru Men’s National Soccer Team.

According to reports, Noah Cobb and David Mejía have received national team call-ups to the United States U-19 and Peru U-20 national teams. Sources said Cobb joins the United States U-19 men’s youth national team for training camp from April 22 to May 1 in Carson, California, headed by new coach Marko Mitrović. The 16-year-old has become a staple for ATL UTD 2, starting and playing every minute of the first five games under head coach Jack Collison before departing for Generation Adidas Cup to play with the Atlanta United U-17 squad. Cobb signed a deal with ATL UTD 2 on March 23 after working his way through the ranks of the Atlanta United Academy, joining with the U-12s.

Mejía, another Atlanta United Academy product, joins the Peru U-20 squad after starting every match at left wing for ATL UTD 2. A native of Lima, Peru, the forward joined the academy in 2018 after his family moved from Jacksonville, Florida to the Atlanta area. Mejía has recorded five goals and one assist in his 33 appearances for ATL UTD 2, signing for the USL Championship team on Dec. 13, 2021. The Peru U-20 national team is set to take on Uruguay on May 2 and 5 before visiting Argentina for matches on May 10 and 12.
