ATLANTA, GEORGIA—For leading the Atlanta United Academy to a remarkable performance this year in its debut in the United Premier Soccer League (UPSL) Georgia Georgia Division Championship, U-19 Coach José Silva gets the coveted 2021 UPSL Georgia Coach of the Year.
Under the leadership o Silva, the team placed second in the UPSL Georgia Division standings, finishing with 24 points and winning eight out of their 10 games to finish the regular season 8-0-2.

Atlanta United Academy Director Matt Lawrey praised Silva for his win and credited his remarkable work ethic as the reason for the award.
“José has had an incredible impact on our U-19 age group, and our coaching staff since he’s joined the club,” Lawrey said.
“His work ethic and love for the game are contagious. We are so proud he has received this award and know he has fully deserved it,” Lawrey added.
Silva for his part is very happy and proud of his award.
“Thank you to the UPSL and also thank you to all of the players, because without them this recognition would not be possible,” Silva said.
“This is a recognition of all of the coaches that coached these guys,” Silva added.
Before coaching the team, Silva spent the previous three within the Orlando City Academy and USL teams.
