Atlanta United is making waves beyond the pitch with a massive investment in the future of local soccer. The Atlanta United Community Fund (AUCF) has granted a record-breaking $345,000 to Atlanta Public Schools (APS) Department of Athletics—marking the largest one-time contribution in APS Athletics history. This game-changing grant will support all 23 APS soccer programs, spanning 12 middle schools and 11 high schools.
Each school will receive up to $15,000, providing much-needed resources such as soccer equipment, uniforms, coaching development, transportation, and EMS services for matches. With between 800-1,000 student-athletes participating in APS soccer each year—representing 12-15% of all APS sports participants—this investment is set to elevate the program’s quality and accessibility, ensuring that both boys and girls have what they need to thrive on and off the field.
“This soccer grant from the Atlanta United Community Fund is a game-changer for Atlanta Public Schools’ Department of Athletics High School and Middle School soccer programs,” said Corrie V. Collier, APS Director of Athletics. “This generous investment will provide our student-athletes and coaches with enhanced resources and greater opportunities to develop their skills, fostering a culture of excellence both on and off the field.”
The impact of this grant extends far beyond the game. By improving infrastructure and resources, Atlanta United is strengthening the foundation of youth soccer in the city, making the sport more accessible and inspiring the next generation of players.

To celebrate the milestone, students from all 23 APS soccer programs will be in attendance at Atlanta United’s 2025 MLS Season Opener against CF Montréal this Saturday, Feb. 22, at Mercedes-Benz Stadium. It’s a fitting way to kick off a new chapter for APS soccer and an exciting season for the 5-Stripes.
