ATLANTA, GEORGIA—The Atlanta United FC has extended its home unbeaten streak to nine after a 2-1 victory against the visiting expansion team Charlotte FC on March 13 at the Mercedes-Benz Stadium.
United FC star striker Josef Martinez and Jake Mulraney provided the team’s winning goals, who improved to 2-1 in the young Major League Soccer season.
United FC head coach Gonzalo Pineda is very happy with their win, especially on how the crowd helped the team win.
“For me, that’s the connection that I always talk about when the crowd is on the same page with the players and they know what we need,” Pineda said.
“It’s the reaction, the players impacting the game from the bench, I think that was a massive positive. And also the reaction from our players with the heart, with the passion, with the intensity… winning duels, winning tackles and sending messages here and there but continue playing,” Pineda added.
The two clubs meet again on April 10 when Atlanta United travels to Bank of America Stadium.
United FC hopes to further extend their winning streaks at home when they host the CF Montreal at the Mercedes-Benz Stadium on Saturday, March 19.
