ATLANTA, GEORGIA— To create a new spot for another player that can help the team more, the Atlanta United FC on Saturday terminate the contract of defensive specialist Fernando Meza.
On its website, Atlanta United Vice President and Technical Director Carlos Bocanegra thanked Meza for all the things he had done for the team.
“We want to thank Fernando for his time and service to the club and wish him luck in his future,” Bocanegra said.
Meza, 31, joined Atlanta United on Jan. 10, 2020. He started 17 matches across all competitions during the 2020 season, including 13 during the MLS Regular Season.
With the departure of Meza, a new player probably a scorer or playmaker is set to join United FC soon.
The United FC is in dire need of a new impact player since its ongoing Major League Soccer season looked very bad.
For the past eight games, the team has yet to win and has suffered successive defeats.
Despite their woes, the future still looks bright under interim head coach Rob Valentino.
