ATLANTA, GEORGIA—The Atlanta United Youth Soccer Club has shown over the past weekend that they are at par with their elder counterparts as far as soccer skills are concerned.
This scenario developed after the Atlanta United Youth Soccer Club won all three divisions of the inaugural Unite Youth Cup soccer tournament at the Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta Training Ground.
After an intense seven months of youth soccer action between 32 local youth teams, Atlanta United won the U-14, U-15, and U-17 categories.
In all their three championships, Atlanta United beat NTH NASA.
In the U14 Atlanta United beat NTH NASA 3-1.
In the U15 Atlanta United beat NTH NASA 6-0.
In the U17 Atlanta United beat NTH NASA 7-1.
Sanctioned by the Georgia State Soccer Association, the Unite Youth Cup, officially started the tournament in October 2020.
Among the top soccer clubs across Georgia who joined the tournament are MLS NEXT, Elite Clubs National League (ECNL), United States Youth Soccer (USYS), NTH NASA, Inter Atlanta, Atlanta Fire United, Lanier Soccer Association, North Georgia Soccer Academy, Concorde Fire, Kalonji Soccer Academy, Southern Soccer Academy, United Futbol Academy, Atlanta City FC, MOBA Soccer Academy, AFC Lightning, and Atlanta United.
To make the tournament more exciting the organizer uses the Champions League format, beginning with Group Stage matches coinciding with each club’s regular season.
The U-14 tournament consisted of 12 teams split into two groups, while the U-15 and U-17 tournaments each consisted of 10 teams split into two groups.
Tournament organizer Atlanta United’s Academy is very happy with the result of the competition and now looks forward to welcoming clubs back to the Unite Youth Cup in 2021 while finding new ways to improve the competition and support local clubs.
