ATLANTA, GEORGIA—The title retention bid of Atlanta United in the 2022 Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup is now officially over. On May 11, the visiting United suffered a second-half meltdown and fell to the home team Nashville SC 2-3. United started strong in the game as they scored two goals in the first half from Thiago Almada and Luiz Araujo.

The goals allowed United to take a 2-0 lead in the game. However, in the second half, the visitor could not keep their tight defense as they allowed the home team to score three goals that led to their defeat. With the win, Nashville advances further in the competition.
