Atlanta United is kicking off the 2025 season with an experienced and dynamic coaching lineup, as head coach Ronny Deila has finalized his technical staff. Joining the team are assistant coach Kenny Miller and goalkeeping coach Elliot Parish, who will work alongside returning assistant coaches Matt Lawrey and Carl Robinson.
This diverse group of coaches brings a wealth of global experience, championship pedigree, and a shared commitment to fostering Atlanta United’s competitive edge in the upcoming season.
Meet the Coaches
Kenny Miller – Assistant Coach
Miller joins Atlanta fresh from working with Deila at Al Wahda FC in the UAE Pro League. His coaching journey began in 2018 when he served as a player-manager for Livingston FC in Scotland. He’s worked alongside Carl Robinson with the Newcastle Jets and Western Sydney Wanderers in Australia and has held assistant roles at Falkirk and Huddersfield Town.
A prolific striker during his 23-year playing career, Miller netted 249 goals and 86 assists in 780 appearances, claiming nine titles. His international resume includes 70 caps for Scotland, during which he scored 18 goals.
Elliot Parish – Goalkeeping Coach
Parish also worked under Deila at Al Wahda FC, bringing a deep understanding of the head coach’s methods. Before joining Atlanta, he served as a goalkeeping coach at St. Johnstone in the Scottish Premiership, where he ended his playing career in 2023.
The Towcester, England native began his career at Aston Villa’s Academy, eventually amassing 178 professional appearances across England and Scotland. Parish also represented England at the U-20 level before retiring in 2023.
Matt Lawrey – Assistant Coach
A key figure in Atlanta United’s development pipeline, Lawrey joined the first team as an assistant coach in 2024 after serving as an Individual Development Coach and Academy Director. Since 2016, he has helped nurture talent at every level of the club’s academy, contributing to the growth of future stars.
Lawrey’s dedication to player development and his deep roots within Atlanta United make him a vital part of the coaching staff.
Carl Robinson – Assistant Coach
Robinson’s coaching resume is packed with accomplishments, including guiding the Vancouver Whitecaps to three MLS Cup Playoff appearances and their first-ever Canadian Cup championship in 2015. He has also achieved success in Concacaf Champions Cup and worked with notable clubs such as the Newcastle Jets, Western Sydney Wanderers, and D.C. United.
A former Wales international midfielder, Robinson’s expertise and leadership further solidify Atlanta United’s coaching lineup.
