ATLANTA, GEORGIA— For scoring a rare hat-trick in the Atlanta United’s 4-1 demolition of the visiting Chicago Fire FC at the Mercedes-Benz Stadium on May 7. Mexican striker Ronaldo Cisneros got two awards from Major League Soccer officials. Cisneros was declared as MLS player of the week and, at the same time, part of the MLS team of the week.

Earlier, the huge win extended Atlanta United’s streak of going unbeaten at home to 12 matches. Cisneros is pleased with his hat trick and victory for his team. “I feel very happy more than anything for the team’s win,” Cisneros said. “Obviously, the three goals make me happy, but we were able to get a win after three games without one, so the victory of the team is most important,” Cisneros added.

For his part, United FC head coach Gonzalo Pineda cited unity as the reason for their big win. “The team, as talented as it is, works very hard,” Pineda said. “But I think the reward has to come. So I think that togetherness was present in today’s game,” Pineda added. United FC hopes to extend their winning streak further when they face the Nashville SC on Wednesday, May 11, for the U.S. Open Cup Round of 32.
