ATLANTA, GEORGIA—For scoring a hat trick that ended Atlanta United 2’s three-game losing streak, forward Jackson Conway gets nominated for the USL Championship Player of the Month. Conway was earlier given the USL Player of the Week honor. The Championship’s Player of the Week is selected by the USL National Media Panel, which comprises representatives from each media market.

In each of Atlanta’s opening four games, Conway has started and broke the side’s early scoring drought 11 minutes into the second half of its clash with the Battery at Fifth Third Bank Stadium to bring the hosts level. The 20-year-old went on to add another pair of goals in the 63rd and 78th minutes to record the fourth hat trick in Atlanta United 2’s history before adding an assist on Darwin Matheus’ late finish to cap the scoring. Conway became the 13th player to record at least three goals and one assist in a single game in the league’s history with his performance.

On Sunday, Conway’s heroics helped his team beat the visiting Charleston Battery FC 4-1 at the Fifth Third Bank Stadium. The team hopes to extend their winning streak to two when they visit Hartford Athletic at the Trinity Health Stadium on April 2. United 2 is hoping to have a great USL Championship campaign this year since it is their last appearance in the league.

According to reports, United 2 will transfer to the Major League Soccer NEXT Pro in 2023. The new league aims to create an “integrated player pathway from MLS NEXT through to MLS first teams” by serving as a bridge from the Academies to the professional system. The league is scheduled to debut in March 2022.
