ATLANTA, GEORGIA—Another adult soccer team based here played well in the 2021 Beer City Cup at the Buncombe County Sports Park Asheville, North Carolina, last September 5.
Lusitano FC, a Portuguese-influenced team founded in the 80s took second place in the 50 and under the division of the national adult soccer tournament.

Lusitano managed by Chris Fernandes fell to Maryland Lions FC 3-1 in the finals to settle for second place.
The team who is originally based in Philadelphia before moving to Atlanta reached the finals after beating Asheville Fusion 3-0 in the semifinals.
Lusitano, also known as the Pure Blood Lusitano or PSL (Puro Sangue Lusitano), is a Portuguese horse breed, closely related to the Spanish Andalusian horse.
The team is very happy with their runner-up honor since it is their fourth time joining the nation’s biggest adult soccer event.
An estimated 111 soccer teams all across the United States joined the 2021 Beer City Cup.
According to the organizer of the nation’s biggest adult soccer event, the 111 teams who registered since June 1 are larger than the 92 teams they hope to accommodate this year.
Many teams joined this year’s event co-sponsored by Ashville City Soccer Club since it offers beer, soccer, and cash to participants and spectators.
