ATLANTA, GEORGIA—The Atlanta United FC Argentine playmaker Ezequiel Barco and interim head coach Rob Valentino were named to the Major League Soccer Team this week for helping their team end their almost three months losing streak with a 3-2 win against the home team Columbus Crew at Field on August 7.
Barco was the top performer for United FC as he scored two goals for his team.
Valentino also has a solid game plan to surprise the home team.
The win is also sweet for Valentino since it is his first victory as a professional coach in the MLS.
Valentino joined the club in 2018 as an assistant for Atlanta United 2 and was named interim head coach of Atlanta United on July 18.
“This is just a start,” Valentino said after the match.
“It wasn’t always pretty, but sometimes you have to find a way to win like that. Their mentality, their drive, and determination to not lose that game was huge,” Valentino added.
United FC (3-6-9, 18 points) hopes to extend their winning streak to two when they host the dangerous Los Angeles Football Club at Mercedes-Benz Stadium on August 15.
