ATLANTA, GEORGIA— The dream of a youth soccer team based here to win the 2021 US Youth Soccer National Championships started on a good note.
CFC Red Star beat Sporting St Louis 6-3 to kick off their campaign in the U17 girls’ national soccer championship from July 20-25 in Sarasota, Florida.
CFC Red Star got the chance to compete in the national finals after they won the US Youth Soccer U17 Girls Southern Regional Championships last June 18-24 in Greenville, South Carolina.
The team won the regional crown after beating Team Boca in the finals 7-0.
They got the slot in the finals after beating Tennessee SC in the semifinals 5-0.
The US Youth Soccer National Championship Series is the country’s most prestigious national youth soccer tournament, providing approximately 185,000 players on over 10,000 teams from US Youth Soccer State Associations the opportunity to showcase their soccer skills against the best competition in the nation while emphasizing teamwork, discipline, and fair play.
This year a total of 15 youth soccer teams from boys and girls divisions from Georgia soccer joined the regional tournament.
