ATLANTA, GEORGIA—After a humiliating 0-3 defeat at home against the visiting Austin FC on July 9, Atlanta United bounced back big-time on July 13 by beating the visiting Real Salt Lake 2-1 at the Mercedes-Benz Stadium.
Mexican striker Ronaldo Cisneros was the man on the house for United as he scored two goals for the team in their morale-boosting victory. The win is huge as it moved United to 6-8-5 on the season and 10th place in the Eastern Conference table.
In their previous defeat against Austin FC, the home team was very focussed on the game as all three designated players were in the starting lineup for head coach Gonzalo Pineda.
It was the second consecutive match and the first time at home that Josef Martínez, Luiz Araújo, and Thiago Almada made a start together. Despite the star-studded line-up, the home team failed to score as Austin FC successfully proved that they are a great team on the road. United hopes to extend their winning streak to two when they host the Orlando City SC for Heineken Rivalry Week on Sunday, July 17, at the Mercedes-Benz Stadium.
