MORROW, Ga. – Two standout members of the Clayton State University men’s soccer team, Othmane Chagour and Isami Takeuchi, were named to the Peach Belt Conference (PBC) Team of Academic Distinction, as announced Wednesday morning. The Lakers’ duo were among 21 total selections from across the conference, showcasing their academic excellence alongside their athletic achievements.

Othmane Chagour
- Hometown: Casablanca, Morocco
- Academic Distinction: First-time honoree in a Laker uniform
- 2024 Season Highlights:
- Played in all 21 matches, contributing 2 goals and 2 assists
- Defensive leader for a unit that held opponents to fewer than 2 goals in 16 matches
- Earned All-Conference, All-Region, and All-America honors
Isami Takeuchi
- Hometown: Atlanta, Ga.
- Academic Achievements:
- Three-time PBC Team of Academic Distinction honoree
- Two-time CSC All-District selection
- Four-time PBC Presidential Honor Roll honoree
- Two-time D2ADA Academic Achievement Award recipient
- 2024 Season Highlights:
- Played in 16 matches, recording 7 shots
- Career: Played in 77 matches, tied for the third-most in program history
About the Award
The Peach Belt Conference Team of Academic Distinction recognizes student-athletes who demonstrate exceptional academic and athletic commitment. To qualify, recipients must:
- Participate in at least half of their team’s games as a starter or key contributor.
- Maintain a cumulative 3.50 GPA or higher on a 4.0 scale.
- Complete at least one full academic year and achieve sophomore athletic eligibility.
The program is managed by the PBC sports communications professionals and aims to highlight the well-rounded achievements of student-athletes.
