ATLANTA, GEORGIA—If the reports are true, Manchester City will be one of the top contenders for the crown in the English Premier League this year.
Sources said Cristiano Ronaldo is reportedly set to sign a deal to play for Manchester City.
City boss Pep Guardiola and Ronaldo spoke on the phone on Thursday morning ahead of his possible departure from Juventus.
Signing a contract with Manchester City, however, will not be easy since Juventus will ‘ demand a fee.
Sources added that Juventus would want around €28 million before allowing Ronaldo to leave but there is a keenness to get the 36-year-old off the wage bill.
It was learned that Ronaldo and his team have communicated to Juve officials that he wants to leave the club now and won’t be part of the squad for next Saturday’s game against Empoli.
Manchester wants to sign Ronaldo badly since they need a striker to replace Sergio Aguero who is now playing for FC Barcelona.
As a member of Juventus, Ronaldo has scored 101 goals in 134 appearances since 2018.
Ronaldo, a five-time Ballon d’Or winner, also spent six years at City’s Manchester rivals, Manchester United, between 2003 and 2009, winning the Champions League and three Premier League titles.
