The Dalton State Roadrunners men’s soccer team continued their unbeaten run with a commanding 4-0 shutout over Middle Georgia State on Saturday. Meanwhile, the Lady Roadrunners faced their first defeat of the season in a tightly contested 1-0 match against the Knights.
The Roadrunners (9-0-1, 3-0-1 SSAC) put on a defensive masterclass, not allowing Middle Georgia State (4-5-3, 1-4-1 SSAC) a single shot all game. Dalton State’s aggressive attack saw them rack up 16 shots, with three goals in the first half setting the tone for an easy victory.
Leonardo Seixas opened the scoring just under nine minutes in, assisted by Jesus Huitanda. Juan Demichelis added to the lead at the 26:14 mark, and just minutes later, Kazuma Ishizuka made it 3-0. Demichelis sealed the game with his second goal after halftime, with Pedro Nunes providing the assist.
The Roadrunners now prepare for a huge test, hosting ninth-ranked Mobile on Friday at 7:30 p.m.
While the men’s team celebrated, the Lady Roadrunners (4-1-3, 2-1-2 SSAC) suffered their first loss of the season in a tough 1-0 battle. **Lujaine El-Shami** of Middle Georgia State (5-7-0, 3-3-0 SSAC) scored the decisive goal just over 54 minutes into the second half.
Despite outshooting the Knights 11-9, Dalton State couldn’t find the back of the net. **Ava Vandoren** led the team with two shots on goal, but the Lady Roadrunners just couldn’t capitalize on their chances.
Both Dalton State teams will be back in action on Friday, with the Lady Roadrunners taking on Mobile at 5 p.m. followed by the men’s game. Fans will be hoping for a big home performance from both squads.
