In an exhilarating showdown between the top two programs in the University Athletic Association (UAA), the Emory University men’s soccer team clinched the conference title with a 4-2 victory over the University of Chicago on Saturday. This victory marked Emory’s second consecutive UAA championship and the ninth in the program’s history, as they celebrated with their home crowd for the second straight season.
The Eagles (8-6-1, 5-1 UAA), now with an automatic NCAA Division III tournament bid secured, wasted no time establishing dominance. Within the opening four minutes, Emory struck twice to gain an early 2-0 lead, setting a commanding tone against a fierce opponent. Maintaining their intensity into the second half, the Eagles held control until Chicago managed a late goal with just over a minute remaining, leading to the 4-2 final.
Emory has now achieved back-to-back UAA titles for the second time, a feat last accomplished in the 1995-96 seasons. The Eagles will wrap up their regular season at home on Saturday, Nov. 9, facing the University of Rochester. Prior to kickoff, the team will honor its 12 graduating seniors with a special Senior Day ceremony, celebrating their contributions to Emory’s winning legacy.
