Ignacio Cubeddu Earns All-America Honors as Emory Men’s Soccer Prepares for National Semifinal
Emory University men’s soccer has its first All-American in seven years. Graduate forward Ignacio Cubeddu was named to the United Soccer Coaches All-America Third Team, the organization announced Thursday afternoon ahead of the NCAA Championship rounds in Salem, Virginia.
Cubeddu becomes the program’s first All-American since Jason McCartney in 2017 and the 16th All-American in Emory history, solidifying his place among the program’s elite. The honor marks the first All-America selection of his career, following three previous All-Region awards.
A Debut Season That Rewrote the Emory Record Book
In his first season with the Eagles, Cubeddu emerged as a dominant attacking force. His production has been nothing short of elite:
- 12 goals (team leader)
- 30 points (team leader and tops in the UAA)
- Set a team record in total shot attempts
- United Soccer Coaches Division III National Player of the Month (September)
- All-Region & All-UAA First Team selection
A consistent playmaker and finisher, Cubeddu has been central to Emory’s postseason run, elevating an Eagles attack that surged at the right time of the year.
Next Up: National Semifinal vs. Trinity (TX)
With Cubeddu leading the line, Emory now prepares for one of its biggest moments in program history. The Eagles will make their national semifinal debut on Friday, December 5 at 6:30 PM, taking on powerhouse Trinity University (TX) at Kerr Stadium on the campus of Roanoke College.
A win would send Emory to its first-ever national championship match — and Cubeddu will undoubtedly be at the heart of the effort.
