Major League Soccer is adding a bit of “style and presence” to its commercial roster. In an announcement made this Tuesday in Cincinnati, Head & Shoulders was officially named the Official Shampoo of MLS.

To kick off the multi-year partnership, the brand is teaming up with Real Salt Lake star and U.S. international forward Diego Luna. The campaign aims to highlight how confidence on the pitch starts with a consistent self-care routine—ensuring “pesky flakes” don’t distract from the high-stakes matches of the 2026 season.

“No Distractions”: The Diego Luna Campaign

Luna, a key figure in the next generation of American soccer talent, will be the face of the partnership. Fans can expect to see the RSL creative spark in recurring TV spots and digital content starting this spring.

“Staying focused is one of the most important things for me when I’m on the field,” Luna said. “Between all my matches and travel, I need my routine to be consistent so I look and feel my best, with no distractions. That’s why I’m so excited to work with Head & Shoulders.”

For Luna, the partnership represents a holistic approach to being a professional athlete—where looking sharp and feeling confident is just as important as the final score.

Community, Culture, and Confidence

The partnership isn’t just about fighting dandruff; it’s about tapping into the diverse and passionate culture of North American soccer. Omar Goff, North America Commercial Leader for Head & Shoulders, emphasized that the collaboration celebrates the global roots of the sport.

  • Decades of Science: Head & Shoulders has been a staple in the grooming industry since 1961.
  • Cultural Fit: The brand selected Luna specifically because he represents a generation of players who show up with “skill, identity, and confidence.”
  • The Goal: To make scalp care a seamless part of the everyday ritual for both players and fans alike.

What This Means for the League

As MLS continues to grow its commercial footprint ahead of the 2026 World Cup, securing “Official” status from global household brands like Head & Shoulders underscores the league’s massive marketing appeal. It follows a trend of players becoming high-profile spokespeople for lifestyle brands, further bridging the gap between sports and mainstream culture.
