ATLANTA, GEORGIA –For leading Atlanta United FC to victory against the visiting Orlando City SC 3-0 on the evening of September 10 at the Mercedes-Benz Stadium, head coach Gonzalo Pineda was given the Major League Soccer coach of the week award.
The win is sweet for Pineda since it is his first win for the team after two tries and it also ended the seven-game winning streak of Orlando.
“It’s not about my first victory,” Pineda said after the match.
“It’s about these three points that are valuable for the club,” Pineda added.
United FC hired Pineda last August 12.
The win is also special since they won it without its top players’ star striker Josef Martinez and defensive specialist Miles Robinson.
The winning goals for United FC were provided by George Campbell 25′, Daryl Dike 38′, and Ezequiel Barco 72′.
The home team come prepared as they had a solid game plan.
The United FC hopes to extend their winning streak to two games when they host the dangerous FC Cincinnati on September 16 at the Mercedes-Benz Stadium.
