Ladipo, who grew up playing the game at the Young YMCA in Southwest Atlanta, knows firsthand how vital early, localized exposure is for young athletes. But as youth sports across the country grow increasingly commercialized and expensive, Soccer in the Streets has built an intentional blueprint to destroy those systemic hurdles:
- The Financial Barrier: Providing completely free access to elite-level coaching, clinics, camps, and programming across local schools and recreation centers.
- The Geographic Barrier: Placing world-class mini-pitches directly at or near MARTA stations so kids don’t need a parent with a car to make it to practice.
“Soccer in the Streets has always been about eliminating barriers,” Ladipo told WABE. “Being connected to transit is essential, so it’s not just about having the field in your neighborhood.”
