The Georgia Gwinnett College men’s soccer team opened the 2024 Continental Athletic Conference Championship title match with a spark, but top-seeded Bellevue University (Neb.) rallied to secure a 2-1 victory and the league crown on Wednesday evening at the Grizzly Soccer Complex in Lawrenceville.
The Grizzlies got off to a dream start, striking first to ignite the home crowd. However, Bellevue showcased why they entered the tournament as the top seed, responding with two goals to overturn the deficit and secure the title.
GGC battled fiercely throughout the match, but the Bruins’ defense held firm, denying the Grizzlies a late equalizer in what turned out to be a tense, hard-fought affair.
Despite the heartbreak, Georgia Gwinnett has plenty to be proud of after a strong season that culminated in a valiant effort against a formidable opponent. As the team reflects on their campaign, they’ll undoubtedly look ahead to building on this performance for future success.
