ATLANTA, GEORGIA—After the team’s 4-2 victory over the Georgia Southern Eagles, Georgia State University Panthers men’s soccer team senior forward Max Wilkins was named the Sun Belt Offensive Player of the Week. Following freshman midfielder Justin McLean, who received the distinction in week 4, Wilkins is the second Panther to receive it.

In the victory over Georgia Southern on Saturday, Wilkins scored twice. The attacker gave the Panthers the early lead by scoring the game’s first goal in the opening minute. He would then score the game’s last goal with a header to give the Panthers the victory.

He earned four points this week and was the only Sun Belt Player to score twice, both of which would have been personal bests for him in a single game. With three goals this season, Wilkins is now tied for third with Justin McLean and Simon Carlson in terms of scoring. This Friday, October 7, at 7 p.m., the Panthers will host the Coastal Carolina Chanticleers.
