ATLANTA, GEORGIA–The Georgia State University Panthers men’s soccer team extended their winning streak to three with a 2-0 win over the visiting Western Michigan on October 21 at seven in the evening.
Freshman Ethan Sassine scored a pair of goals to lead the Panthers to victory in front of their fans at the GSU Soccer Complex.
With their win, the Panthers (10-3-0, 2-1-0 MAC) picked up three critical points in Mid-American Conference play with just three matches remaining before the conference championship.
The Panthers, who are receiving votes in the College Soccer News Top 30 for a second-straight week, won for the seventh time in the last eight games.
Also with the win, the Panthers have now won at least 10 matches in five of the last six seasons.
The lone season in which the Panthers didn’t reach double-digit wins was last year when GSU played just 13 matches due to the COVID-19 pandemic and still finished 9-2-2.
The defeat dropped Western Michigan to 4-6-4, 0-3-0 MAC, and remained winless in conference play as the Broncos took just seven shots on the night and only three of which were on target.
The Panthers will close out the homestand hosting No. 29 Northern Illinois in MAC play on Saturday at the GSU Soccer Complex at 7 p.m.
