ATLANTA, GEORGIA—The dream of Georgia State University Panthers’ men’s soccer team to advance further in the NCAA tournament knockout stage is now over.
The visiting Panthers team suffered an 0-2 defeat at the hands of the home team Georgetown soccer team at the Shaw Field in Washington, DC on November 21.
Despite the loss, the Panthers are happy with their NCAA stint this year.
The Panthers’ 3 wins are the most for the program since winning 14 matches during the 2016 season.
The 13 wins also are tied for the sixth-most in a single season in school history.
Also, coming into Sunday, the Panthers was one of just 20 programs in the country to have reached 13 or more wins so far this season.
This marked also the first time Georgia State and Georgetown met on the pitch and the only third time the Panthers have played a current member of the Big East.
Moreover, it was learned that five of Georgia State’s final seven matches came against ranked opponents.
