ATLANTA, GEORGIA–The visiting Georgia State University Panthers men’s soccer team won its fourth game after six matches with a 4-2 victory against the home team Winthrop on September 19 at Eagle Field in Rock Hill, South Carolina.
Sophomore Simon Carlson got the Panthers on the board in the 25th minute, scoring his first goal of the season.
Senior Salar Faryar gave the Panthers a 2-0 lead with less than two minutes left to play in the opening half thanks to assists from Andrew Miller-Bell and Carlos Luna.
With just 16 seconds to play in the half, freshman Ethan Sassine found the back of the net to give the Panthers a 3-0 lead with assists going to Miller-Bell and Ramon Munoz.
Winthrop quickly came out in the second half and scored in the 47th minute on a strike from Jonathan Foster.
Carlos Luna put the Panthers back up by three scoring his first goal of the season in the 71st minute.
The Panthers (4-2) hopes to make it two wins in a row on the road when they visit Davidson on Tuesday for a 6 p.m. matchup.
