ATLANTA, GEORGIA—The Georgia State University Panthers Women’s Soccer team nail down its first win in NCAA soccer by beating the University of Tennessee dubbed as Chattanooga Mocs 1-0 on Sunday at Chattanooga, Tennessee.
Sophomore striker Ana Diaz scored in the 12th minute to give the Panthers its first win after they lose their first game at home against Mercer 0-1 last August 19.
After suffering defeat at home, the visiting Panthers played aggressively against the home team Chattanooga Mocs.
Diaz scored her second career goal off a deflection following a GSU free-kick.
Her shot beat the Mocs’ keeper low and left.
The Panthers maintained control of the match after the early lead.
The Panthers have eight shots, six on goal, while holding Chattanooga to just three shots.
The Panthers improve to 1-1 on the season and move to 5-0 all-time vs. Chattanooga.
The Panthers hope to increase their winning streak to two when they visit Athens to take on Georgia on August 26.
