Atlanta’s game in September 2020 against Inter Miami, saw them fighting with a free-flowing attacking style of soccer. Inter Miami, much like Atlanta United, is going through a slump, and they are looking to break it. The Five Stripes, who are fresh off their victory against Nashville SC, are hopefully on a roll. Nashville SC did not participate in the MLS is Back tournament, which means this was their first game since the lockdown. The victory was definitely a morale booster, but the game against Inter Miami will be the real test for Atlanta.
Here’s a list of why and how Atlanta United can beat Inter Miami.
Under Stephen Glass, the United kept their system but did make a few changes in personnel. Brooks Lennon, who was used as a full back, was given more license to go forward, with Franco Escobar providing more stability in the back. Fans also saw new signee, center back Fernando Meza in action, who, despite getting subbed off at halftime due to injury, played a solid game – recording a tackle, five clearances, and a recovery.
New Confidence in Attack
After failing to register a single goal, Pity Martinez’s brace will bring newfound confidence in the attack. The Argentine’s brilliant performance is something the attack will build upon in their next games. While the supporting cast has been relatively quiet, players like Matheus Rossetto showed flashes of prowess. If they are on their A-game and with their morale booster, the Five Stripes should win the game against Inter Miami.
Something to Prove
Both teams are undoubtedly composed of very talented players, but both have played much less than their best in recent games. Atlanta United has a lot to prove to themselves as well as their fans, while Inter Miami will be determined to get out of their slump.
The Atlanta United vs. Inter Miami match will be a huge test for Glass and the entire team.
