During the tournament, a bunch of these shiny new pitches will double as local watch-party hubs and community fan zones. But the absolute best part? The legacy. The club is building a pipeline. Our world-class training ground in Marietta is officially getting a taste of international prestige. The Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta Training Ground has been selected as an official FIFA World Cup 2026™ Team Base Camp!
Dimitrios Efstathiou, Atlanta United’s Senior Vice President of Strategy, shared that international squads have been scouting our grounds for a long time—with federations like Japan and Korea flying in to inspect the turf as early as late 2025. National teams check everything from pitch quality to locker rooms, medical treatment layouts, and media studios.
The verdict is in, and our newly expanded Marietta facility—boasting six full-length pitches, two massive warmup zones, and top-tier production spaces—has officially been locked down. Uzbekistan has selected the 5-Stripe headquarters as their home away from home for the tournament! We know our facility is second to none, and now global squads will get to experience that elite Atlanta hospitality firsthand.
Showcasing the Culture: Local Businesses Getting World-Cup Ready
We aren’t just hosting games; we are showing off the cultural soul of the South. Under the leadership of Atlanta Mayor Andre Dickens, Uncle Arthur Blank, and UPS Chair Carol Tomé, an powerhouse initiative called Showcase Atlanta is in full swing.

Lamar Stewart, the director of initiatives for Showcase Atlanta, noted that they saw this “supernova” coming and wanted to ensure everyone from local restaurants to boutique shops felt equipped. The program is actively helping neighborhood businesses secure grants for facade upgrades, navigate language barriers, scale up staff, and coordinate smoothly with FIFA guidelines. When fans descend on our streets, they’re going to taste our food, experience our art, and immerse themselves completely in Atlanta’s unmatched culture.
From Decatur to the Coast: The Ultimate Watch Party Vibes
If you don’t have a ticket inside Mercedes-Benz Stadium, don’t sweat it. The watch party scene across Georgia is going to be absolutely legendary.
Take Decatur, for example. They are planning a massive, month-long soccer festival, broadcasting every single one of the 104 tournament matches. To keep the energy completely electric, they are booking heavy-hitting pre- and post-match musical acts, including local icons the Indigo Girls and Atlanta’s own hip-hop royalty, Big Boi! Imagine singing along to OutKast anthems surrounded by thousands of screaming soccer fans—it doesn’t get more Atlanta than that.
Similar block parties, fan zones, and massive screens are being prepped in Macon, Statesboro, and Savannah.
