ATLANTA, GEORGIA—The ongoing 2022 Major League Soccer season of Atlanta United could be considered a mix of success and failures. As United enters the June international break with a 4-5-4 record, let’s try to see the important numbers that shape the team in the first three months of MLS play.

So far, Atlanta United has already scored 20 goals in the ongoing MLS season. The team’s goal performance is considered the top-third for league scoring. Most of the team’s goals this year are sourced from nine different players. Four of these goals came from Ronaldo Cisneros, who only arrived in April.

One of the players playing well for the team this year is Argentine midfielder Thiago Almada, who scored a goal and recorded an assist in two consecutive matches against New England Revolution and Nashville SC. He’s just the third player in Atlanta United history to reach the feat, joining Miguel Almirón and Ezequiel Barco. The stellar performances earned Almada league-wide respect. He was named to the MLS Team of the Week two consecutive times on May 16 and May 23.

With a record of 4-5-4, the team is currently in 10th place in the MLS standing. In their 13 matches so far, the team has earned 16 points, which is 10 behind the current leader in the Eastern Conference, defending MLC Cup champion New York City FC.
United will have the chance to make up some ground when it returns from the break with four straight matches against conference opponents. First up, Inter Miami at home on June 19.
