At the eight-nation UEFA Friendship Tournament in Riva, Turkey, the U.S. Under-16 Women’s National Team defeated Vietnam 8-0 thanks to three goals from forward Ella Kral, two from forward Ashlyn Anderson, and one apiece from forward Jordan Hill, midfielder Addison Feldman, and midfielder Charlee Siria. This was the team’s second straight victory.
The USA will play Botswana in their Group A finals on April 16 with six points from two games. If the USA prevails, they will play the winner of Group B, which includes Uganda, China, Wales, and Paraguay, in the final match on April 18. This will be the first-ever U.S. match vs Botswana in the group finale. The national team for women.
The USA started the game early with a shot from Hill in the 12th minute that went into the top right corner, outshooting Vietnam 22-1. Feldman, who scored in her second straight game, and Anderson added goals with a header just before the half to put the USA up 4-0. Anderson would add another goal just after the break.
After Siria made it 5-0 in the 61st minute, Kral continued on the attack, completing her hat trick with goals in the 63rd, 74th, and 83rd minutes.
While Rylie Morse set up the third and eighth goals, midfielder Scottie Antonucci assisted on the opening two. The fifth and seventh goals were assisted by midfielder Jaiden Rodriguez, who scored in the team’s victory over Turkey in the first game.
Players eligible for this U-16 WYNT cycle are those born on or after January 1, 2008. All of the players chosen by U.S. head coach Toledo were born in 2008. Each participant in the U-16 WYNT pool is qualified for the FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup, which takes place in the Dominican Republic in October and November of this year, based on age.
